How to play Heads Up, Seven Up

  1. Choose seven students to come to the front of the room.
  2. Say "Heads down, thumbs up." Everyone else puts their head on their desk with eyes closed and one thumb raised.
  3. The seven tiptoe around the room and each gently presses down one thumb, then returns to the front.
  4. Say "Heads up, seven up." Students whose thumbs were pressed stand up.
  5. Each standing student guesses which of the seven tapped them. A correct guess swaps them into the seven for the next round.

Variations

  • Use fewer tappers (four or five) in a small class.
  • Play "Heads Up, Seven Up" with vocabulary: tappers must say a word, and guessers must define it before they guess.

💡 Teacher tips

  • Remind students that peeking ends the round for everyone, which keeps it honest.
