Heads Up Classroom Game

Play Heads Up, charades or Taboo with your class on one screen. A guesser stands with their back to the board while classmates give clues or act out the word. 60 second rounds, team scores and a summary of every word.

How to play Heads Up in class

  1. One student from the team stands at the front with their back to the board. Only the class can see the word.
  2. Press Start round. Teammates give clues, act it out or draw in the air, without saying the word.
  3. Press βœ“ Got it (or β†’) when the guesser says the word and β†· Pass (or ←) to skip. The round lasts 60 seconds.
  4. Teams take turns. At the end you see each team’s score and every word that was guessed or passed.

It works for vocabulary, science terms, book characters and ESL speaking. Add forbidden words to play Taboo, act only for charades, or sit the guesser in the Hot Seat. For a guess-the-person version see Who Am I.

Frequently asked questions

Do students need phones?

No. Unlike the Heads Up app, the word appears on the classroom screen and the guesser stands with their back to it. The teacher presses Got it or Pass.

How do I play Taboo?

Write the forbidden words after a vertical bar, like beach | sand, sea, sun. They appear under the word so the class knows what they must not say.

Can the whole class play without teams?

Yes. Choose Whole class and play a few rounds to beat your class record.
