Lucky Boxes Review Game

A free Kaboom and ZAP style classroom game for the board. Teams pick a numbered box, answer a question, and only a right answer opens the box: bonus points, double, steal, swap or a bomb. Works with any subject.

How to play Lucky Boxes

  1. Split the class into 2 to 6 teams, pick a question set (or paste your own) and go full screen.
  2. The team whose turn it is calls out a box number. Tap the box and the question appears.
  3. Press Correct and the box bursts open. Inside is +1, +2, +3 or +5, double points, steal 2, give 2 away, swap scores, a mystery or a πŸ’£ bomb.
  4. A wrong answer keeps the box shut and the turn passes. When every box is open, the team with the most points wins.

Lucky Boxes is the board version of the ESL favorites Kaboom, ZAP and Typhoon. Because a box only opens after a right answer, luck adds drama without beating knowledge. Pair it with the offline Jeopardy review, try Trashketball for a moving version, or run the Quiz Show when every team should answer every question.

Frequently asked questions

Is it fair if teams can lose points?

Boxes only open after a correct answer, so teams earn every surprise. Bombs cost 2 points and never take a team below zero. For younger or sensitive classes choose Gentle surprises, which removes bombs and score swaps.

Can I use my own questions?

Yes. Open Edit questions and type one question per line with the answer after a vertical bar. Copy share link saves the set or sends it to a colleague.

Can I use it without a mouse?

Yes. Arrow keys move around the boxes and Enter opens one, or type the box number. Space shows the answer, Enter marks it correct and X marks it wrong.
