How to make a word search

  1. Open Words and settings, type a title and your words, one per line.
  2. Pick a grid size (or leave it on Auto) and the directions: across, down, diagonal and, for older students, backwards.
  3. Press Make the puzzle. Don’t like the layout? Press New puzzle for a different one. Each layout has a number, so the same words always give the same puzzle.
  4. Press Print for a clean worksheet with a name line and the word list. Tick β€œPrint the answer key” to get a second page with every word marked.

Playing on the board

Project the puzzle and let students come up to find a word: drag from the first letter to the last (or tap both). Found words are highlighted and crossed off the list. Split the class into teams with the team generator and keep track on the scoreboard, or set a race with the classroom timer.

Yes. Each character fills one square, so you can hide idioms, vocabulary or new characters for Chinese class.
