How to use Class Points

  1. Open Set up and choose how many groups sit in your room. Rename each group by clicking its name on the board.
  2. Press +1 or +2 on a card when a group earns points, or βˆ’1 for a reminder. On a keyboard, press 1 to 9 for the matching card.
  3. To say why, tap a reason first (Participation, Teamwork, Quiet and ready…). It shows on the board with the point.
  4. Every egg hatches and grows as its group earns points: an egg becomes a chick, then a chicken, then a peacock. Press Leaderboard for a big ranked view at the end of the day.
  5. On Monday, choose New week to start everyone at zero. Last week’s winner stays on the leaderboard.

Want to reward individual students? Paste your class list into Set up and switch to the Students view. Groups and students keep separate points.

Ideas for a classroom reward system

  • Agree on a weekly prize for the top group: first in line, choosing the brain break, or a game of Four Corners.
  • Let groups β€œspend” points on privileges: 10 points for music during work time, 20 for a seat swap.
  • Make new groups with the random team generator, then press Use my teams from the Team Generator in Set up.
  • For a single game rather than the whole week, use the simpler classroom scoreboard, and pick who answers with the random name picker.

Frequently asked questions

Is this a free alternative to ClassDojo?

Yes. Class Points is free, needs no accounts for you or your students, and runs on any classroom screen. Points are saved in your browser rather than in an online account.

Will the points still be there tomorrow?

Yes. Points, names and pets are saved in this browser on this device until you press New week. To move them to another computer, save a backup file and load it there.

Can I give points to individual students?

Yes. Paste your class list in Set up and switch to the Students view. Each student gets a pet that grows with their points.
