How to play Freeze Dance

  1. Clear a little space and have everyone stand.
  2. Start the music. Students dance in place.
  3. Pause the music at random. Everyone must freeze immediately.
  4. Anyone who moves after the music stops sits down and becomes a judge.
  5. Keep going until one dancer is left.

Variations

  • Freeze in a shape: call out a letter, number or animal and students freeze as that shape.
  • Quiet version for older grades: no one is out; it is just a 3-minute movement break.

πŸ’‘ Teacher tips

  • Keep songs short and school-appropriate; instrumental tracks avoid lyric issues.
