Memory Match Game

A free online memory matching game for the classroom. Match words to definitions, math facts to answers or vocabulary to translations. Play in teams on the board.

How to play memory match in class

  1. Choose a set of pairs or write your own: vocabulary and meanings, math facts, countries and capitals, or emoji picture cards for younger students.
  2. Teams take turns calling out two card numbers. Click them to flip, or type the number on the keyboard.
  3. A match scores a point and the team goes again. No match: the cards flip back and the next team plays.
  4. One pair is a secret ⭐ golden pair worth 2 points.
  5. When every pair is found, the podium shows the winning team.

It is the board version of the classic memory game, and it is great for ESL vocabulary and quick math fact practice.

Frequently asked questions

How many pairs can I use?

Choose 6, 8 or 10 pairs per game. If your list is longer, a different random selection is used each round.

Can I play without teams?

Yes. Choose Whole class and the game counts moves instead. It remembers the class record, so the class can try to beat it next time.

Can I use pictures?

Yes. Put an emoji on one side, like β€œπŸŽ | apple”, or paste a link to an image. The ready-made picture sets are made for K–2 and ESL classes.
